Fun little factoid about Sho

In the game files there's some audio that's just like. "Generic Story Voices". The same ones that I got Kaito and Towa's incantations from. Generic audios were used in campus chats before they got fully voiced I believe, but now they're not used anywhere as far as I know.

And he uses 'Aniki' for him???

My understanding is generally that 'aniki' is kind of respectful and the fact that he uses a respectful term for the brother that he hates struck me as odd when I first found the file(then again he uses 'senpai' for pretty much every student older than him so far, so maybe he's just respectful in general?? Or maybe it's more of a sarcastic thing for Hyde?)

And then we got the 'I'm counting on you Shohei' bit and I was like. O h. Either he's actually fond of/respects Hyde a lot and has no problem being obedient towards him or he just. Speaks to him respectfully out of intimidation maybe? Or habit since he speaks restfully to other people? Idk. Azriel can technically sing monsters to sleep. Depends on the creature and its abilities, but many of them are susceptible to hypnosis or enchantments. Azriel can do both, not that he actively uses it.

In one mission he and a few relevant characters get sent on, there’s a creature that seems invincible. None of their attacks or magic have even scratched it.

That’s when Azriel tells them to get out of the way, high into trees or far enough to not hear. They argue and protest but he wins out. They get far enough to where they’re still in range but whatever attack he’s going to try won’t hit them.

When the sound of a single guitar fills the air, They all stop to listen because who would play music at a time like this? Then someone connects the dots and turns to watch Azriel.

They see his shadows swirling around him and the monster, like leaves in the wind. A smooth and sweet voice joins the guitar, speaking in the language they can’t understand. The creature that had previously going mad to defend itself is pacified, stopping its attempted attacks and simply watching Azriel.

The group feels compelled to watch, drawn in by the music. A heaviness settles in their limbs and their pulses slow to the same tempo as the song.

Multiple voices in the same language begin to accompany the voice, parroting and repeating as the creature begins stumbling and falling. The song they hear swells and rises until the creature collapses completely.

The area goes silent, as the relevant characters shake themselves out the drowsy state and drop back down to join him.

One thing I find deeply disconcerting about Dream in regards to him saying the r-slur is how I don't think he fully understands. I don't think he understands why it's not okay to use that

Not even like in the calling 15 million people a slur derogatorily sense, because I feel like we talked about that and I'm generally satisfied Dream understands that for now.

I feel like when you say say a slur especially with a platform as large as he has, even if you come out later and you be like, Oh, I'm autistic, do you know who's like going to be made to feel uncomfortable that by that comment? It's going to be disabled people. You're going to be making disabled people feel uncomfortable. You're going to alienate them from your audience.

But you know who's not going to feel uncomfortable? Who might even celebrate you for "being so brave as to speak out against the woke fucking left?" It's going to be ableists. It's going to be the people who say the r-slur derogatorily towards people on the daily. When you alienate the people around you who are uncomfortable with the use of slurs, who do you think are going to be left after that? Ableism is such a prevalent issue in the gaming community. Like, I don't think he understands that saying that kind of stuff creates an echo chamber of alt right people in your audience. It invites alt right people into an audience of. primarily. Primarily. He has a huge audience of neurodivergent people. He really does. And it is ridiculously irresponsible and reckless to invite that kind of behavior into a predominantly neurodivergent and progressive fan base!!!

It makes me so angry to just like see him do. And then say, oh I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that because you know what if it's going to offend people I shouldn't have said it. It's not about you offending people, man. It's about the people you're hurting.

I've seen both Mufasa 2024 and HB several times having their writing and plots compared to "fanfiction" and obviously it's an insult and people never go any deeper than that but I'm tired of accepting that fanfic-y plots aren't hella cool sometimes and that it's all the same bc it's really not and also man it's really not that deep in the end oh my God

Bc you know what. We write/read fanfiction bc we want silly guilty pleasures that we rarely see in "professional" writing and we want to see those cool tropes happening. But then when those tropes do happen people complain that it isn't professional enough??? So what the fuck do you want then

Like Loona having a demon feral wolf form is PEAK deviantart 2012 furry fanfic headcannon but also. That's so fucking cool man. I love her. People ask oh why does she have a demon form but man why should she NOT. Yeah you'd see it in fanfics but isnt that bc we want it. It's in character and in universe and it's cool and I love it bc it's so random but it doesn't destroy the universe and it's COOL it really doesn't go deeper than that man

Meanwhile Mufasa writing is fanfic-y in the way that it has a lot of tropes that you see in TLK fanfiction (white lions, made up lion biology, etc) but it's also BAD bc it's sooo badly connected and the pacing is terrible but also they don't even DO anything cool with it. It doesn't do anything new or exciting with the wacky ideas they decide to use. It doesn't do anything cool with white lions. It doesn't do anything cool with Mufasa being adopted. All comes and goes and leaves no impact.

It'd be the same if they'd randomly introduced Loona's wolf form while she was on the phone or smth. Literally nobody would find that cool the way we are now bc it's hella cool THE WAY they did it

Like fanfics can be bad or good and that's fine bc the only reason they exist is to be self-serving and I give them all the right to be as dumb and as badly written as they deserve and for some people it's just stress relief and some people are literally 11yos having fun. Do whatever you want

But when you have some kind of production then yeah, we expect some level of quality. I just don't think that being "fanfiction level / fanfic-y" is inherently bad you know. It's about how you use it

Both Loona being a feral demon and the whole Mufasa movie have a lot of fanfic tropes but one of them used it in cool ways and the other used it in dumb ways but the tropes themselves aren't the problem you know

I just don't think that fanfic tropes are inherently bad and I'm tired of acting as if they are. Fuck I love THE LION GUARD over Mufasa because The lion guard actually does cool stuff with whatever they did and embraced it being as insane as it is while Mufasa just threw random stuff and didn't do anything with the tropes they used. I would be SO INTO Mufasa having white lions and ghosts and magic and fights and lion monarchies if they bothered to do anything cool with it.

I don't know man. It's not that deep. Sometimes stuff can be silly but also cool. Media can be silly and fanfic-y as long as they write it in a cool way. Which Helluva Boss did and Mufasa didn't and that's the point
